Citation:

Naib Subedar Bhiwasan Ambhore was commanding a platoon of a company which had established a base for operations to be launched against the enemy by one of our Mountain Divisions in the Khem Karan Sector. He led three patrols and brought backuseful information about the enemy. At 1130 hours on 17 September 1965, when the enemy brought down heavy artillery and machine gun fire on the company position he went from trench to trench and encouraged his men to beat back the enemy. Again at 1430 hours on the same day, when the enemy made another assault, Subedar Ambhore moved forward with one of his sections and started firing from the trenches when the enemy came within 80 yards. He thus held the line and beat back the enemy.

Throughout, Naib Subedar Ambhore displayed cool courage, initiative and leadership of a high order.
