Citation:

During an attack on an enemy tank position in the Khem Karan Sector, Lance Naik Bhanwar Singh's section was detailed to destroy enemy tanks. The section launched an attack on the enemy position and destroyed two enemy tanks. Although his section commander was killed in the encounter and he himself was badly wounded by a burst of an enemy Browning machine gun fire, he kept on firing on the enemy and damaged a third tank.

In this action, Lance Naik Bhanwar Singh displayed courage and devotion to duty in the best traditions of the Army.
