Citation:

On the night of 10 December 1971, Captain Rajendra Singh Vijay Singh Dafle was ordered to take a platoon and establish a roadblock in an area in the Eastern Sector. The enemy launched an attack in strength in a bid to breakthrough the roadblock. Under the able leadership of Captain Dafle the platoon repulsed the attack, inflicting heavy casualties on the enemy. The enemy made repeated attempts from different directions to dislodge this platoon. Captain Dafle moved from trench to trench, despite heavy shelling and small arms fire, to encourage his men and held his ground.
