With the overwhelming Chinese build-up opposite Hotspring and our post at Nulla Junction having fallen to them, Major Ajit Singh was asked to fall back to Tsogsalu to organise a more coordinated defence there. He, however, asked that he and his men be given an opportunity to fight and retake the post at Nulla Junction. This was agreed to and the Nulla Junction was reoccupied by his men. The Hotspring Post was also thus defended and continued under our control. It was only when he was subsequently ordered to withdraw from these posts in view of the continued heavy enemy build-up opposite Hotspring and reports of enemy infiltration into Marsmikla that Major Ajit Singh withdrew to take up defensive positions in the rear.

Major Ajit Singh displayed great courage and leadership during these operations.
