Citation:

On 23 November 1947, 1 Sikh was holding a feature near Uri. Under heavy automatic fire support, 600 raiders reached within 30 yards of the LMG post. But the sustained accurate firing by Sepoy Bagh Singh held the enemy. The section commander was killed, leaving Sepoy Bagh Singh in command of the section of four. He fought doggedly, accounting for numerous enemy casualties. The enemy withdrew. 

Sepoy Bagh Singh displayed remarkable skill at arms, leadership and dauntless courage.
