Citation:

On 10 May 1948, a battalion of Rajputana Rifles was the leading battalion in a mopping-up operation in the Jhangar area of the Western Sector. Naik Chhog Singh was the second in command of the forward section of a platoon when it came under I heavy enemy fire. He was directing his LMG fire on enemy positions and during the process he sustained serious splinter wounds in his arm. Regardless of the injury he rallied his section and made a frontal assault on an enemy LMG and finally captured his objective. He set an example of a very high order of devotion to duty and courage to his comrades.
