Citation:

Lieutenant Premjit Singh Chima was with a field company in support of an infantry brigade group in the Naya Chor area in the Rajasthan Sector. During the advance to Naya Chor, the tracks of a tank were damaged by an anti-tank mine. Second Lieutenant Chima was ordered to make a safe lane in the minefield to retrieve the damaged tank. With complete disregard for his personal safety, he led his party for clearance of the lane. The enemy subjected the minefield clearance party to heavy machine gun and rifle fire. Undeterred Second Lieutenant Chima continued with the work and completed the task of retrieving the tank. Subsequently, while clearing another minefield near Parbat Ali, he was killed by a nine explosion.

In these actions, Second Lieutenant Premjit Singh Chima displayed gallantry, determination and leadership of a high order.
