Citation:

Lance Havildar Dharam Singh was commander of a post in Ladakh. This post was attacked by a large number of Chinese on 22 October 1962. The attack was supported by heavy mortar. In spite of heavy odds, he held the post for two days and his gallant action helped our defences further north. The courage and determination shown by Lance Havildar Dharam Singh in the face of the enemy were in the highest traditions of our Army.
