Citation:
Signalman Dharam Chand Dhilan was in charge of the signal communications of a post in Ladakh, which was shelled and attacked by the Chinese on 27 October 1962. When a direct hit destroyed the wireless set he took up a position in the trenches and fought until he was overpowered by the Chinese. The devotion to duty and courage displayed by Signalman Dharam Chand Dhilan were in the highest traditions of our Army.
