Citation:
Naik Fateh Mohammed was in command of the leading section of a company of Ladakh Scouts during the attack on an enemy position in the Western Sector. The assault of his section was held up when two enemy light machine guns opened intense fire from a bunker. Naik Fateh Mohammed immediately deployed his section to return the fire and, with complete disregard for his safety, crawled up to the bunker and lobbed two grenades inside, thereby silencing the light machine guns and killing all the occupants. 

In this action, Naik Fateh Mohammed displayed gallantry and leadership of a high order.
