Citation:

On 14 December 1948, when Lance Naik. Perinbam Issac, postal courier in the Jammu- Naushera Sector, reached Beripatam bridge, the road was under heavy enemy fire. This prevented him from crossing the bridge with the mail and though he made several attempts he did not succeed. On 16 December he waited at the sentry check post on the bridge and with strong determination dashed forward with three days' accumulated mail despite serious danger facing him. While he was crossing the bridge the enemy opened up again, but he succeeded in getting through safely and carried the mail to Naushera. 

Next day he collected the outward mail to Jammu and the held-up signals and crossed the bridge again through enemy fire at great personal risk and danger. 

Lance Naik. Issac displayed devotion to duty, initiative, courage and utter disregard for personal safety. He was the main driving force that enabled regular flow of mail for troops that kept their morale high.
