Citation:

Sepoy Dhondu Jadhav was No.2 of MMG attached to a battalion of Kumaon Regiment. On 14 April 1948, the advancing company came under heavy automatic fire from a dominating feature in the Rajouri Sector of J&K. Sepoy Dhondu Jadhav cleverly built cover for his gun on hilltop and started firing on the enemy. During the course of this action, his No. 1 was wounded. Sepoy Jadhav continued firing with remarkable tenacity and repulsed the enemy attack. 

Sepoy Dhondu Jadhav displayed great devotion to duty and cool courage in the defence of his objective.
