Citation:

Sepoy Kabal Singh was No. 2 Bren gunner positioned to the side from which the enemy launched its attack on ‘A’ Company of 1 Sikh on 13 October 1948. The attack was preceded by heavy firing and most of the bunkers had collapsed due to direct firing of the enemy 3.7 Howitzer gun. Sepoy Kabal Singh faced the enemy onslaught with courage and killed nearly two sections of the enemy with his Bren gun. Though wounded, he refused to be evacuated and stuck to his Bren gun. He repulsed the enemy attack. The enemy then launched another attack but Sepoy Kabal Singh was again there waiting for the enemy He inflicted heavy casualties on the enemy but was again wounded in the attack. Many of his comrades had also become casualties but he did not loose courage and stayed at his post with full determination. When the enemy failed in its fourth attack, it started firing with heavy guns which hit the trench of Sepoy Kabal Singh who then died shouting at the enemy from his post.
