Citation:

P. K. Kamalasanann was the platoon Havildar of No. 2 Platoon, which went for search operations along road Chavakchcheri-Savasalai-Meesalai on 4 November 1987. When the platoon reached near road junction in area Meesalai at about 1235 hours, militants fired on a section from the houses on the East of the road. This section was totally pinned down. Havildar Kamalasanann saw that two militants were bringing down effective fire on the platoon. Without regard to his personal safety he got up and charged towards the militants firing from his rifle. The militants saw him charging and abandoned their positions. However, in the process, he was hit by two bullets in the abdomen and died on the spot.

Havildar P K. Kamalasanann thus displayed conspicuous courage and valour in the face of the militants.
