What is Happening

A meeting of the War Decorated Trust was held on Thursday at Chandigarh. The following Trustees were present:

  • Capt Reet MP Singh, VrC

Discussion centered around passing the audited accounts for the year 2012-2013 and the Scholarship Scheme of the Trust.

Lieutenant Commander Bahadur Nariman Kavina was the commanding officer of an Indian naval ship, which attacked Karachi on December 1971. Despite enemy's shore batteries and the possibility of an air attack, he repeatedly led his ship on to the enemy forces. His inspiring leadership enabled the naval units to deliver a crippling blow to the Pakistan naval forces. It was as a result of his action, aided by other naval units, that the major part of the enemy's surface fleet was destroyed in one action.

In this action, Lieutenant Commander Kavina displayed gallantry, leadership and devotion to duty of a high order.
