Citation:

Last Havildar Kishan Singh was with a company of Kumaon Regiment during an attack on a heavily fortified enemy locality in the Eastern Sector. During the assault, a heavy machine gun of the enemy opened up accurate and effective fire on his company. Lance Havildar Kishan Singh immediately rushed forward alone towards the machine gun bunker and lobbed a grenade into the bunker. Having silenced the gun, he pressed his one-man attack, shot the gun crew and snatched the machine gun. His cool courage, initiative and complete disregard for his personal safety were instrumental in the capture of the objective.
