What is Happening

A meeting of the War Decorated Trust was held on Thursday at Chandigarh. The following Trustees were present:

  • Capt Reet MP Singh, VrC

Discussion centered around passing the audited accounts for the year 2012-2013 and the Scholarship Scheme of the Trust.

During the operations against Pakistan in December 1971, Lieutenant Prem Kumar was a pilot of an Indian naval aircraft, which carried out repeated strikes on enemy held ports in Bangladesh. He carried out eight strike missions over heavily defended ports of Chittagong, Mongla and Khulna. On 12 December, while carrying out bombing run on ships in harbour, his aircraft was struck on the front windscreen by enemy anti-aircraft fire. Undeterred, he continued in his task. On completion of the attack on ships in harbour, he attacked the gun position and destroyed it. 

Throughout, Lieutenant Prem Kumar displayed gallantry, professional skill and devotion to duty of a high order.
