Citation:

Subedar Pritam Singh was the senior JCO of a company of Sikh Light Infantry during the operations in the Shakargarh Sector. A platoon under Subedar Pritam Singh was ordered to clear the village Pila Dogran. The platoon came under accurate enemy fire, resulting in five casualties, including one of the light machine gun teams. Realising the gravity of the situation, Subedar Pritam Singh quickly got hold of the light machine gun, regrouped the platoon and pressed home the attack. The fire from his light machine gun silenced one of the medium machine guns of enemy. At this stage he was seriously wounded but refused to be evacuated. He kept up at his task till he succumbed to his injuries.

In this action, Subedar Pritam Singh displayed gallantry, determination and leadership of a high order.
