Citation:

Lance Havildar Jagendra Singh Sen was a medium machine gun section commander with a company of Gorkha Rifles during an attack on enemy position in an area in the Shakargarh Sector in December 1971. After the objective had been captured, the enemy launched a counter-attack in strength and succeeded in surrounding the medium machine gun. Three enemy soldiers charged and tried to snatch it. Lance Havildar Jogendra Singh Sen, with utter disregard for his safety, jumped out of his trench and killed the three enemy soldiers with his khukri. This action not only saved the medium machine gun, but also helped in repulsing the counter-attack.

In this action, Lance Havildar Sen displayed gallantry of a high order.
