Citation:

On 8 December 1947, at Poonch, Lance Havildar Trilok Singh was commanding a section, which held the right forward front of his picquet position. Repeated attacks and attempts at, infiltration were made by a band of about 200-300 raiders under cover of close rifle and LMG support. Throughout this engagement, Lance Havildar Trilok Singh took his position beside the section LMG and from there controlled the fire of his men, his gun, and the use of the limited number of grenades at their disposal. Early in the engagement, he received a bullet wound on the back of this right hand, which he completely disregarded till the engagement was over.

Lance Havildar Trilok Singh got out of his slit trench and with his sten gun shot all the three raiders who had crept up to his LMG position. He infused his men with spirit by his own personal example
