Citation:

On 22 September 1965, when our infantry was under heavy enemy fire in Jassoran, Lance Dafadar Udham Singh took his tank forward despite limited observation afforded by the terrain. Although, his tank was caught in the crossfire of enemy tanks, he knocked out two enemy tanks. Meanwhile, his own tank was hit and he was killed afterwards. His action, however, enabled the infantry to extricate itself from a difficult situation. In this action, Lance Dafadar Udham Singh displayed courage and devotion to duty in the best traditions of the Army
